Course Description

Cisco® Unified CallManager MCS boot camp teaches students how to integrate Cisco Unified Communications into a network to meet voice and data requirements. Extensive practical labs offer additional opportunities to learn by providing exercises to select, configure, and troubleshoot Cisco Unified Communications products such as Cisco CallManager 5.0, Cisco VG 248, Catalyst 6000 + DSP resources + digital line cards, Cisco IOS gatekeeper, and Media Gateway Control Protocol (MGCP) and H.323 gateways. Coverage of Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) topics include line and trunk side configurations.

This is an extensive, five-day, instructor-led course with a lab consisting of six equipment pods. Each pod simulates an enterprise that demonstrates the various deployment models students are expected to encounter.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to perform the following tasks:

  • Describe Ciscos unified communications solutions
  • Perform Installation, back up and restoration tasks for CallManager 5.0
  • Implement basic CallManager system-wide functions
  • Describe the available suite of Cisco end points and enable basic phone services using the autoregister features
  • Select and configure gateways that use SCCP, MGCP or H.323
  • Configure and verify H323 and SIP trunks
  • Explain how dial plans are used for routing calls, accessing features, controlling access and configure a dial plans to enable those functions
  • Explain Gatekeeper functions, configure a GK controlled ICT and establish GK resiliency using GUP
  • Explain Call Admission Control functions and configure using locations based CAC, GK controlled CAC, resource availability, and RSVP
  • Describe advanced user features available in a CallManager solution
  • Explain Cisco support for SIP devices and configure SIP phones
  • Configure media resources for conferencing, Transcoding, MOH and Annunciator
  • Cisco Unity Voice mail and configure it using the Voice Mail Port wizard
  • Configure SRST with both basic commands and CallManager, monitor and troubleshoot its operation.
  • Identify and use common Call Manager troubleshooting tools

Who Should Attend

This boot camp is for field and channel systems engineers and network engineers who deploy IP telephony solutions based on Cisco Unified Communications architecture and Cisco CallManager 5.0.

Project engineers must be able to effectively integrate the Cisco Unified Communications solution to meet customer voice and data requirements. This course provides systems engineers the knowledge and skills required to both implement and operate CallManager 5.0 deployments.

This course is one of several courses in a curriculum that addresses the full implementation life cycle: preparation, planning, design, implementation, operation and optimization of Cisco Unified Communications solutions.
