This course focuses on the following technologies:

  • Telecom basics and introduction to VoIP
  • Fundamentals of VoIP calls
  • Codecs, DSP functionality, VoIP signaling and call control
  • Types of gateways (H.323, MGCP and SIP) and their configuration
  • Dial peers and configuring dial plans
  • Introduction to gatekeepers
  • Integrating gateways and gatekeepers into the VoIP network
  • Implementing Gatekeeper based call admission control
  • Implementation of IP-to-IP gateways
  • Implementing a Cisco UBE

Prerequisite:

  • Basic knowledge of Networking, LAN, WAN, and IP switching and routing.
  • Knowledge of traditional public switched telephone network (PSTN) operations and technologies
  • Hands on experience on Cisco Routers and Switches, Ability to configure VLANs and DHCP
  • Basic Internetworking skills
