Unity Bootcamp - 6-day Course

Course Description

This Unity Bootcamp integrates the classroom instruction from the UCSA, UCSE, and CUDN professional unified communications curriculum into a single class; complete with hands-on practical labs and case studies that meet the Cisco Unity requirements for the Unity Design and Support specialists and certifications

UCSA You will learn to manage a Cisco Unity 4.x system. You review the basic architecture of Unity software and the hardware that Unity runs on and efficiently administer and maintain a Unity 4.x system. You will learn best practices for setting up a system, customizing a system for a company or client, adding subscribers to a system and building a simple audio text application. After completing this course you will understand: Licensing requirements, basic Unity integration, general system setup, building call handlers and interview handlers, system monitoring, basic reporting, and system maintenance tools.

UCSE - This course will teach you how to install and integrate Unity 4.x in a stand alone and unified messaging environment. You will learn to size the Unity server utilizing overlays, install and upgrade a Unity 4.x system, integrate Unity with Cisco CallManager, and understand the other types of integrations available including VPIM, AMIS, PMIG and the Cisco Unity Bridge . You will utilize the tools to monitor and maintain the Unity system. You will be introduced to problems associated with a Unity system and techniques to troubleshoot issues involving integration, message store, message indicators, and delayed messages

CUDN This advanced course teaches the design of complex Unity solutions to meet customer and legacy voicemail requirements. You will design a large-scale voicemail solution, applying repeatable design methodologies and utilizing all available infrastructure components. You will be able to explain Cisco approved Unity deployment models and design solutions that interoperate with circuit-switched voicemail systems. You will integrate with active directory and mailstores utilizing MS Exchange and Lotus Domino.

Lab Topology

In our Unity Boot camp lab, we offer hands-on experience configuring Cisco Unity and integrating it with CallManager 4.0, Microsoft Exchange email and Cisco IP phone

Prerequisites

A fundamental understanding of:

  • Cisco Network Design: CCDA or equivalent experience
  • Understand characteristics of a messaging environment (eg Exchange or Domino)
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 and Exchange 5.5 or Exchange 2000 (MCSE recommended)
  • Programming of telephone switching equipment (NEC NEAX 2000 or 2400, Avaya Definity
